- Completion of a certificate program in Radiologic Technology

**Job Description:**

- Perform diagnostic general radiological procedures utilizing various imaging equipment to assist in diagnosis of diseases and injuries.
- Acquire and process patient exams in accordance with accrediting bodies and/or manufacturer guidelines as outlined in department protocols.
- Review cases with the radiologist when appropriate.
- Review labs and patient history to perform the correct exam.
- Administer IV, oral, and rectal contrast when appropriate.
- Recognize and respond to any adverse allergic reactions.
- Administer IV contrast material via existing IV line or by performing venipuncture.
- Screen patients for the possibility of pregnancy and perform pregnancy testing if applicable.
- Review radiology orders for completeness and accuracy.
- Review patient history and supporting clinical data for medical necessity; take steps to acquire additional information if needed.
- Demonstrate acceptable imaging quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors, and alignment.
- Transfer and verify image data in PACS and provide necessary medical history and information for radiologist interpretation.
- Utilize web servers and email systems to send exams for preliminary readings after hours.
- Maintain imaging equipment and workspace, ensuring orderliness and ample supply inventory.
- Recognize malfunctions and report service needs in a timely manner.
- Ensure patient, visitor, and environmental safety by immediately reporting any safety events, including near misses.
- Assist in the instruction of students and new staff as necessary.
- May perform duties of a Lead Radiologic Technologist or Imaging Coordinator as needed.
- Meet productivity levels as established by department benchmarking and assist other areas during downtimes.
- May perform duties of other modalities within the department for which licensure is held, unless otherwise required by compliance, licensure, or accrediting bodies.
- Comply with other job descriptions for cross-trained modalities within the department.
