**Must-Have:** Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred

**Job Description:**

- Practice independently in a clinical setting and demonstrate awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care.
- Provide routine and complex care with a focus on long-range goals or plans.
- Develop the ability to cope with and manage clinical contingencies effectively.
- Assign and delegate tasks to other care providers to assist in managing the clinical situation.
- Meet the expectations of applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Deliver nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
- Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
- Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and effectiveness.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
- Assess learning needs and educate patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identify issues and resources.
- Utilize critical thinking skills to assess the physical, psychosocial, social, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of patients and families.
- Develop and use care plans specific to individual patient needs using evidence-based practice.
- Implement patient care and therapeutic procedures; monitor and document the progression of treatment and teaching goals.
- Evaluate care and treatment outcomes and adjust as needed.
- Perform timely reassessment and documentation.
- Anticipate and plan for patient admission, discharge, and transfer needs to facilitate patient flow.
- Utilize communication systems and tools to facilitate the discharge process.
- Coach on tools and techniques for checking, cross-checking, and validating orders to ensure accuracy.
- Plan, direct, and evaluate nursing care and functions within the unit during assigned shifts.
- Demonstrate good stewardship in the proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Assess departmental staffing needs and participate in resourcing efforts.
- Educate and train others on operations, ethics, and regulations within the industry.
- Incorporate patient safety practices to promote a safe environment and achieve positive patient outcomes.
- Demonstrate accountability for nursing research and quality improvement activities.
- Communicate patient information effectively across the continuum of care.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare-related laws and regulations.
