**Job Description:**

- Assist the healthcare team in providing safe, age-appropriate, and culturally aware patient care.
- Perform duties within the context of moderate to high acuity surgical cases.
- Exhibit additional surgical skills for progressively more difficult cases.
- Demonstrate an efficient, organized surgical plan for assigned cases.
- Take initiative to discuss the surgical plan with other healthcare team members.
- Troubleshoot instruments and equipment, anticipating additional supplies or equipment required.
- Mentor, precept, or train in various modalities and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
- Prepare the operative suite and surgical field to ensure a safe patient care environment.
- Gather required instruments and supplies, serve as a surgical assistant, and assist with inventory, ordering, and stocking.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards at all times.
- Check supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures and assist with room set-up.
- Perform surgical counts and actively participate in the procedure pause/time-out.
- Maintain the highest standard of sterile technique and prepare sterile dressings.
- Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
- Apply principles of asepsis to ensure infection prevention and safety.
- Prepare case carts and review the surgical schedule to assist with future case preparation.
- Observe patient conditions and report changes to the physician and registered nurse.
- Plan proactively for procedure progression, demonstrating adaptability in emergencies.
- Maintain financial stewardship related to supplies and equipment usage.
- Provide relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics.
- Participate in new training and serve as a resource for new technology or procedures.
- Complete all initial and annual competencies and required continuing education.
- Perform other duties as assigned, ensuring organization and cleanliness of the surgical area.
