Position Overview

The Executive Director (ED) reports to the Board of Directors (BOD) and is responsible for providing overall operational, financial, strategic, human resource, public relations, and other management activities. The ED supports AHNA programs, services, expansion, and execution of its mission to promote member satisfaction and financial stability of the organization. In collaboration with the BOD, the Executive Director is responsible for achieving the strategic goals and mission of AHNA.

Qualifications

The ED is thoroughly committed to AHNA’s nonprofit mission and has proven leadership, fiscal, strategic, coaching and relationship management experience. Other qualifications include:

Minimum qualifications:

• Unencumbered United States Registered Nurse licensure with attained Graduate Degree.

• Aligned with holistic nursing values.

• Knowledgeable of the Holistic and Nursing Scopes and Standards.

• Reside within reasonable commuting distance of office headquarters, currently in Topeka, Kansas.

• Successful administration including a minimum of four years’ experience leading a medium sized organization with proven ability to coach, manage, and develop diverse high-performance teams.

• Proven skills in strategic planning and implementation of tactical elements of a plan.

• Strong oral, written, electronic, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Knowledge and experience ensuring bylaw compliance.

• Experience in developing and implementing a complex budget including knowledge of fiscal management tools such as QuickBooks and fiscal accounting appropriate to a 501c3 organization.

• Experience in overseeing conference and publication activities.

• Ability to collaborate with like-mind and multi-disciplinary organizations that pertain to organizational direction and needs.

• Legislative awareness as it pertains to organizational direction and needs.

• Marketing, public relations, advocacy, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.

• Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups.

• Willingness to travel to represent the AHNA at national/international meetings as indicated.

Preferred qualifications:

• Graduate degree in nursing, business or law.

• Minimum four years proven successful management experience with non- profit organizations.

• Skillful success in securing grants; ability to identify, steward and solicit individual donors.
