**Description:**
Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a specialty area.
Essential responsibilities include assuming responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments.
Note all changes in physician orders on assigned patients.
Assist the physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients and observe their manifestations.
Administer prescribed medication.
Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
Deliver patient care competently.
Interact with family and patient to share care plans during the hospital stay and at discharge.
Oversee treatment provided by technicians or other service providers.
Inform patient and family of hospital procedures.
Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
Delegate tasks to support staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.
**Skills:**
Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.
Maintain good working relationships with other employees.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Work effectively as part of a team providing excellent specialized care.
Some computer skills are desirable.
**Education:**
Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required.
Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing from a board-approved program is preferred.
**Required Certifications & Licensure:**
Current RN License, Basic Life Support, and ACLS issued by the American Heart Association.
