**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN)

**Job Specialty:** Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

**Job Duration:** 13 weeks

**Shift:** 12-hour days, every other weekend, first to float

**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week

**Experience:** Minimum 3 years of PICU experience

**License:** License to submit required

**Certifications:** BLS, PALS

**Must-Have:** Cerner experience, minimum 2 years PICU experience, not a first-time traveler

**Job Description:**

- Provide nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU.
- Care for patients with common diagnoses such as respiratory failure, dehydration, seizures, suicide attempts, overdoses, and poisoning.
- Work with an average census of 2 patients, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 to 2.
- Utilize Cerner for electronic medical records and Spacelab tele monitors; nurses must read their own strips.
- Support from Peds Hospitalist Intensivist and RT available 24/7.
- Be flexible to float to general pediatrics and burn units as needed.
- Follow a floor-specific orientation plan which includes 2 shifts in PICU, 1 shift in pediatrics, and 1 shift in the burn unit (for pediatrics).
- Adhere to a cancellation policy where the hospital may cancel up to 3 times per contract.
- Required to wear navy blue scrubs.
- Be available for call if census is low and scheduled, which may require being on standby.
- Work in a team setting without nurse aides, and rarely with a charge nurse present.
- No IV team available; must be proficient in using Medfusion pumps.
- Meet the weekend and holiday requirements of working every other weekend and 2 out of 3 holidays.
