**Job Title:** Surgical Technician

**Shift:** Day Shift, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (On-call 1-2 weekends a month, and 1-2 weekday shifts in CVOR)

**Guaranteed Hours:** 40 Hours Per Week

**Experience:** Minimum of 1 year of surgical tech experience

**License:** Not specified

**Certifications:** BLS (American Heart Association), IDPH Fingerprinting

**Must-Have:** Experience with Thoracic/Open Heart procedures

**Job Description:**

- Serve as an integral part of the perioperative team, functioning as the first, second, or assisting Surgical Technician under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Apply the principles of asepsis to maintain a sterile environment.
- Demonstrate competency in select technical and psychomotor skills, judgment, and appropriate knowledge base.
- Provide age-specific care to obstetrical patients following established policies and procedures.
- Assist in the organization and coordination of supplies and equipment to maintain an efficient and cost-effective department.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, co-workers, and self, adhering to safety and legal requirements.
- Charge for equipment and supplies, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Participate in room turnover and set-up.
- Maintain and clean equipment, identifying items needing repair per policy.
- Effectively perform sterilization, disinfection, and document loads per policy.
- Independently scrub basic surgical procedures and demonstrate the ability to problem solve in relation to the procedure being performed.
- Apply basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology for optimal surgical patient care.
- Utilize knowledge of electricity, chemistry, computers, robotics, and lasers in surgical patient care.
- Demonstrate knowledge and practice of patient care concepts and perioperative teamwork.
- Apply principles of sterile technique during surgical procedures.
