Travel Nurse RN

**Job Description:**
- The unit specializes in MedSurg/Telemetry with 30 beds.
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are 4:1 for both days and nights.
- Requires experience with the Cerner EMR system.
- Additional equipment includes pagers linked to the call light system and internal SpectraLink phones.
- Unit orientation consists of one full day on this unit and four hours on other units to which staff may float (5W, 4W, 4E, & 6E).
- Nurse aides are available, with numbers varying depending on census. Typically 2-3 on days and 2 on nights.
- A charge nurse, who must have ACLS certification, is always available. They do not take patients but assist staff nurses. In case of high census or unexpected absences, they may serve as a staff nurse.
- Shifts are from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm or 7:00 pm to 7:30 am.
- Breaks include a half-hour clock-out break and three 15-minute breaks per shift in accordance with CA law.
- Every other weekend work or equivalent to four weekend days in a four-week schedule.
- Scrub color is navy blue for both the top and jacket. Undershirts must be navy, white, or black.
- Vents are not present on the unit, and there is no dedicated IV team. ICU and ER can assist with difficult IV sticks.
- Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7, with Omnicell access.
- Patients typically include those on telemetry/cardiac teleunit, and the unit can intermittently serve as a COVID unit if needed.
- Travel nurses float off the unit first, with brief orientations provided for MedSurg and Tele units. Floating includes MedSurg, Tele units, and Burn ICU (only for MSTele patients).
- Nurses must be able to multi-task efficiently and have superb time management skills to thrive in this busy unit environment.
