**Job Title:** Registered Nurse

**Job Specialty:** Med-Surg Adult

**Job Duration:** 13 weeks

**Shift:** Full-Time Night Shift (3) 12-hour shifts, 6:30 pm - 6:30 am with every other weekend and holiday rotation

**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week

**Experience:** Minimum of two-year degree in nursing required; BSN preferred

**License:** Must hold and maintain a Wisconsin Registered Nursing license

**Certifications:**
- BLS certification required (or obtained within 1 month of hire)
- ACLS certification required (or obtained within 6 months of hire)
- PALS encouraged

**Must-Have:** Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail

**Job Description:**

- Provide quality, professional, general nursing care to patients.
- Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, documenting, and evaluating patient care for a group of patients.
- Adapt to changes in daily assignments, patient status changes, and unit needs.
- Provide care to Med/Surg and EICU patients.
- Use and perpetuate the nursing process throughout the patient's hospitalization.
- Ensure patient care is individualized to meet unique needs and situations.
- Possess general knowledge of disease processes and anticipated treatments, labs, vital signs, and potential complications.
- Initiate and document patient plans of care based on assessment and medical diagnosis; set priorities for nursing action.
- Provide care independently with minimal supervision, adhering to physician orders and policies.
- Respond to life-threatening situations in accordance with nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Explain procedures and treatments to patients at their level of understanding.
- Perform or assist with procedures as per approved departmental policy.
- Observe and record significant condition changes or reactions for patients and notify providers in a timely manner.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions using computerized documentation systems.
- Acknowledge and verify physician's orders via the electronic medical record.
- Be proficient in medication administration, including IV therapy.
- Initiate patient/family education plans and discharge needs according to individualized requirements.
- Delegate tasks and collaborate with other health team members in planning and providing care based on patient needs.
- Ensure patient safety and maintain a safe environment, using precautions appropriately.
- Demonstrate understanding and utilization of Universal Precautions, asepsis, and infection control procedures.
- Ensure proper handling of specimens.
- Perform other duties as requested.
