Job Summary and QualificationsResponsible for overall management and oversight of the program and its related services, with fiscal, interdisciplinary and programmatic responsibility for strategic planning in conjunction with leadership, and other departments requiring interdependent administrative decision-making to attain goals. Plans, develops and implements administrative aspects of the Bariatric Program. Acts as the liaison between the hospital, bariatric patients and the bariatric surgeons' offices. Monitors the interdisciplinary components of the program to ensure that they meet the goals and objectives of the program, and are consistent with the overall strategic plan of the Hospital.
Directs the program development by establishing a systematic approach including identifying and incorporating "best practices" into the design.
Develops and maintains relevant policies and procedures, patient education, outcomes data collection, quality improvement efforts, and education of relevant staff in various aspects of bariatric surgery with a focus on patient safety.
Partners with physician leaders in the development of written protocols and education of the clinical team in the management and treatment of metabolic and bariatric surgery patients
Manages the bariatric surgery program accreditation process and ensures continuous compliance with MBSAQIP requirements, Payers, and other regulatory entities.
Responds or coordinates all initial requests for accreditation: application/site inspection and RFl's from MBSAQIP, Payers and other regulatory entities.
Works closely with hospital leadership to promote program growth and implement services that promote optimum health care delivery and customer service.
Serves as the liaison between the hospital, patients and all surgeons performing metabolic and bariatric surgery at the hospital.
Facilitates the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Committee (MBSC) meetings, patient pre-op education and patient support group meetings.
Collaborates with the MBSC to utilize quality improvement as a basis to improve processes to achieve desired outcomes.
Ensures timely and accurate quality data collection, validation, and entry into the MBSAQIP Data Registry Platform.
Pursues own professional growth and development, i.e. maintains CBN certification, attends ASMBS and other professional organization meetings, etc.
Assumes accountability for decisions and actions.
Supports the organization's outreach programs to the community.
What qualifications you will need:
- Registered Nurse
- Bachelors Degree (BSN)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- 3 years of experience in bariatric surgery is required
