**Experience:** Minimum 1 year in related nursing specialty preferred; Perinatal RN Residency or recent practice in a Perinatal Setting is preferred
**License:** RN License in state of employment or compact
**Certifications:**
- Current certification in NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or AWHONN courses (Intermediate FHM, Intermediate FHM Instructor, Advanced FHM Instructor, or Instructor Trainer) at time of hire for experienced nurses; within 90 days of hire for new graduates and nurses new to the specialty
- Current ACLS certification within 30 days of hire for experienced nurses; within 90 days for new graduates
- Current NRP certification at time of hire for experienced nurses; within 60 days for new graduates and nurses new to the specialty
**Must-Have:**
- BLS certification
- Completion of New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire
**Job Description:**
- Independently practice in a clinical setting, providing both routine and complex care while focusing on long-range goals or plans
- Continue developing the ability to manage the contingencies of clinical nursing
- Make appropriate assignments and delegate duties to other care providers
- Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
- Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
- Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor for side-effects and effectiveness
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care given
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or care givers
- Utilize critical thinking skills to assess patient and family needs, develop and modify care plans using evidence-based practices
- Implement patient care and therapeutic procedures; monitor and document progress
- Anticipate and plan admission, discharge, and transfer needs to facilitate patient flow
- Utilize appropriate communication systems and tools for the discharge process
- Plan, direct, and evaluate overall nursing care and functions during an assigned shift
- Educate and train others on industry operations, ethics, and regulations
- Demonstrate accountability for nursing research and quality improvement activities
- Ensure equipment and supplies are properly used and maintained
- Share experiences with the processing of medical orders and patient safety practices
- Ensure accurate health information documentation and medical order processing
