Licensed Practical Nurse Direct Access

The Licensed Practical Nurse Direct Access at Albany Gastroenterology Consultants is responsible for conducting nursing interviews to assess medical eligibility for screening procedures such as colonoscopy and endoscopy. This role also involves managing patient care throughout the Capsule Endoscopy process, including obtaining medical histories, providing instructions, and ensuring high-quality patient experiences in an office setting. Candidates must hold a current NYS LPN license, have at least one year of clinical experience, and possess the skills necessary to care for patients of all age groups.

The Licensed Practical Nurse Direct Access Responsibilities are:
- Conducting nursing interviews to determine medical eligibility for screening colonoscopy/endoscopy. This process includes collecting medical and family histories from patients, reviewing preps and scheduling procedures or office visits.
- Managing the patient throughout our Capsule Endoscopy procedure process; includes obtaining and reviewing patient medical history, providing prep instructions, placement and removal of Capsule Endoscopy equipment, guidance to patient during procedure process.
- Place and remove equipment for Capsule Endoscopies
- Providing high quality patient care in an office setting is required
The Licensed Practical Nurse Direct Access must have the following qualifications and experience:
- Current NYS LPN license
- Minimum of one year of experience in a clinical setting
- Intermediate level of computer skills
- The ability to provide a safe and comfortable environment for our patients is a must
- Must have demonstrated knowledge and skills to provide appropriate care to all age groups.
