**Job Specialty:** Intensive Care Unit (ICU) - Float to Medical-Surgical Telemetry and Emergency Department Holds
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** 12-hour nights, 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks, 2 out of 3 major holidays
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week
**Experience:** Minimum of 2 years
**License:** Required
**Certifications:** ACLS, BLS
**Must-Have:** Positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, proficiency with vasoactive drips, independence, strong general medical and surgical ICU experience
**Job Description:**
- Nurses are expected to complete SIMs Lab for specific procedures with emphasis on maintaining a sterile field.
- Must be comfortable working with Medical-Surgical Telemetry patients.
- Work may require flexibility, including up to 50% time in a non-ICU environment.
- Responsible for interpreting EKGs and managing ventilated patients.
- Work supported by a charge nurse and a resource nurse, with one tech per shift.
- Prepare to manage a variety of diagnoses including CHF, sepsis, neuro conditions, cardiac issues, pulmonary conditions, and some endocrine disorders.
- Responsible for procedures such as bronchoscopy, central line insertion, intubations, and more.
- Patients who become too critical are transferred to a more specialized care unit.
- Expectations include strong teamwork, a no-pass culture, and proficient use of electronic medical records.
- Must be adaptable to floating between different units as needed.
