Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Specialty: Pediatric Vascular Access

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Day - 9x4 - 8 AM to 5 PM, Four 9-hour shifts per week, Monday-Saturday

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Experience: Minimum one year of experience in PICC Line placement; two years preferred for pediatric PICC Line placement

License: Current RN License issued by the State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).

Certifications:
- Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required for those caring for pediatric patients

Must-Have:
- Current knowledge of nursing role in PICC Line placement
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills

Job Description:
- Provide PICC Line placement and infusion education within the PICC program.
- Consult on special patient cases requiring PICC Line placement and instruction.
- Establish treatment plans for patients and their families.
- Serve as a resource for medical and hospital staff regarding PICC placement and education.
- Consult with healthcare teams on complication management.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments.
- Monitor physiological data of patients and intervene when necessary.
- Interact with family and patients regarding the care plan during hospitalization and discharge.
- Inform patients and families of hospital procedures.
- Make referrals to appropriate personnel regarding patient care needs.

Preferred Skills & Experience:
- VA-BC (Vascular Access-Board Certified) preferred
- Experience working in a team environment

Education:
- Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing from a Board Approved Program

Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of Vascular Access Device Selection, Insertion, and Management online course offered by Bard Access Systems within six months of hire.

Language: Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
