**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN)

**Job Specialty:** Gastrointestinal (GI) Surgery

**Job Duration:** 13 weeks

**Shift:** Days

**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 per week

**Experience:** Minimum of one year in nursing

**License:** Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state.

**Certifications:**
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (AHA or ARC).

**Must-Have:** Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing

**Job Description:**

- Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards.
- Coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
- Participate in identifying and meeting learning needs, with a focus on self-education.
- Utilize patient education materials relevant to the patient population.
- Assess the readiness to learn of patients, families, and caregivers.
- Identify expected patient outcomes and revise the plan of care with guidance as needed.
- Communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care.
- Demonstrate competence in the care of patients with complex problems, considering physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care.
- Perform bedside point-of-care testing as required for patient care plans.
- Organize and prioritize care according to patient and family needs.
- Consult with appropriate resources regarding patients with complex care issues.
- Develop goals to promote professional growth and participate in intra/interdepartmental collaboration.
- Effectively use communication systems and participate in cost-effective care promotion.
- Contribute to a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment for all.
- Recognize data from complex situations to determine priorities for care.
- Collaborate with patients and families to prepare or update care plans.
- Prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems and use multidisciplinary resources in care planning.
- Engage in research by reading relevant journals and bringing ideas to the team for assessment.

Candidates should be capable of delivering high-quality care to adult post-surgical patients with weight loss issues, gastrointestinal cancers, and complex non-cancer GI-related illnesses.
