**Job Description:**
- Work in a 42-bed Medical Surgical unit, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, occasionally 1:6.
- Care primarily for medical patients, with some surgical overflow, including respiratory, gastrointestinal, and behavioral health cases.
- Must be willing to take on student nurses and may precept new travelers if needed.
- No requirement to titrate drips, but common drips include heparin, PCAs, and morphine.
- Support from a Charge Nurse available on each shift. On occasion, the Charge Nurse may take patients.
- Presence of nurse aides/patient care technicians at a ratio of 1:8.
- Utilize CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow RT equipment (managed by RT).
- RNs are required to monitor and interpret their own telemetry strips with virtual tele-tech support.
- Participate in a transition from SpaceLab to Philips monitoring systems.
- Flexible scheduling without block scheduling; 12-hour shifts from 7-7:30.
- Expected to work 5 weekend shifts in a 6-week period.
- Possible float between other Medical Surgical units or to like units for overflow, including emergency holds or 1:1 care.
- Dress code requires any color scrubs, provided they are clean and professional.
- Comprehensive orientation includes 3 days of general training, EPIC training, and two shifts on unit with a preceptor. Completion of online modules is required before starting the assignment.
**Note:** Candidates must reside outside the 50-mile radius rule before proceeding with profile review.
