**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN)

**Job Specialty:** Medical/Surgical

**Job Duration:** 14 weeks

**Shift:** 12-hour night shift, 3 nights per week

**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week

**Experience:** Minimum one year experience preferred

**License:** State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)

**Certifications:**
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification

**Must-Have:** Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to medical/surgical specialty

**Job Description:**

- Assume responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the healthcare team and patients/families to identify and meet patient needs.
- Promote optimal health, well-being, and safety through the use of the nursing process in accordance with patient care standards and guidelines.
- Demonstrate personal accountability for providing relationship-based care and support the organizational mission and core values.
- Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, medical record review, and clinical data analysis.
- Evaluate patient responses and intervene to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Develop and implement patient plans of care and observe outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate competency in various therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collection.
- Advocate for and protect patient health, safety, and rights.
- Provide patient and family education by assessing learning readiness, needs, and ability, followed by teaching and evaluating the effectiveness of the education provided.
- Engage patients or their designees as full partners in providing compassionate, coordinated care based on respect for patient preferences, values, and needs.
- Deliver care with respect for cultural differences and human experience diversity.
- Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel in compliance with state regulations and hospital policy.
- Utilize time, personnel, equipment, and supplies effectively to deliver high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
- Serve as a professional role model demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing processes.
- Manage resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies with individual patient and unit needs.
- Use standards of care, hospital policies/procedures, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice.
- Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams to foster open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making for quality patient care.
- Precept and mentor new staff and nursing students as needed.
- Seek learning opportunities and continuing education to maintain skills and competence in clinical practice or role performance.
- Maintain professional records that provide evidence of competency and lifelong learning.
- Evaluate integrity and nursing practice in relation to professional standards and guidelines and take action to achieve goals identified during evaluations.
- Understand float requirements which may include floating to different locations within a designated range and duties outside the original job assignment as per policy.
