Experience: Two years of respiratory care experience in a critical care setting preferred
License: Licensed by the relevant Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
Certifications: Current Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (within 3 months of hire) issued by the American Heart Association
Must-Have: RRT certification and experience in Pediatrics, NICU, and PICU
Job Description:
- Provide services for the Respiratory Therapy Department efficiently for all age levels.
- Administer therapeutic treatments as prescribed by the medical staff.
- Record treatment information and patient response in computerized medical records.
- Act as a resource person to medical staff.
- Perform invasive and non-invasive diagnostic testing and patient monitoring.
- Provide age-appropriate care to patients.
- Ensure respiratory equipment is cleaned and maintained.
- Maintain necessary respiratory therapy records.
- Participate as part of the quick response team for cardiac and respiratory arrests.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of procedures and techniques of Respiratory Therapy and operation and repair of respiratory equipment.
- Clinical decision-making skills appropriate to patient care related to the pulmonary and cardiac systems.
- Ability to interpret information to identify patient needs.
- Ability to work under stress and maintain good interpersonal skills.
- Some computer skills.
- Good relationship-building abilities with coworkers and staff.
Education:
- Graduation from an approved Respiratory Care Program.
**Special Requirement:**
- If hired without current registration (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care, incumbents must receive the Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential within 90 days of hire, with the RRT credential required within 12 months of hire.
