**Job Title:** Level 2 Registered Nurse, Emergency Department (Part-Time)

**Shift:** Two 12-hour shifts per week (7 AM - 7 PM / 7 PM - 7 AM), including day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday rotations

**Experience:** Minimum of 2 years in the Emergency Department

**License:** NYS RN Licensure

**Certifications:** BLS, ACLS, PALS, Stroke Certification

**Must-Have:** One year of acute hospital experience as a registered professional nurse

**Job Description:**

- Apply nursing theory, technical, and communication skills to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families.
- Assess patient needs, prioritize urgent or emergent care, provide direct care, apply appropriate interventions, and evaluate patient progress.
- Demonstrate skill in using various invasive and non-invasive procedures, treatments, and therapeutic interventions for managing life-threatening and routine emergency situations.
- Utilize relationship-based care principles to alleviate anxiety, provide information, and address pain/discomfort and safety.
- Connect with patients and families during triage to identify initial management and assign care priority in accordance with Triage Standards.
- Conduct primary assessments to detect and document major deviations from the norm and identify necessary steps/interventions.
- Use direct observation, patient/family interviews, EMS reports, and data for secondary assessments.
- Assess psychosocial needs, document and report suspicion of domestic violence or abuse.
- Reassess patient responses to treatment and condition changes, and respond appropriately.
- Encourage mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Teach and delegate tasks and interventions consistent with education, training, and scope of practice.
- Safeguard public safety through compliance with infection prevention strategies.
- Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures and treatments, and make appropriate post-emergency care referrals.
- Educate patients and families on continuing care/healing at home, assessing learning styles to maximize understanding.
- Evaluate retention of key education and discharge instructions.
- Focus on what is most important to the patient/family, acknowledging them as the central focus of care and services.
- Create a healing environment as a key element of professional nursing practice.
- Maintain awareness of patient conditions throughout ED visits and keep communication boards updated.
