**Description:**
The Emergency Department sees 150-180 patients daily.
The unit has 33 main beds and 8 beds designated for trauma or resuscitation.
There are 4 behavioral health rooms that can be converted to medical use.
There are 5 pods divided with 4 rooms and a hall bed each.
A vertical care area is used for waiting or holding and can handle ESI 3 and ESI 4 patients at times.
There is a heavy trauma population, especially during summer.
This is a Level 2 trauma center that stays busy with trauma cases.
The facility is a complete stroke center, able to handle symptoms within 24 hours.
The ED sees patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics and conditions from minor to critical.
Travelers are expected to manage Sexual Assault patients and evidence collection, except pelvic exams.
Critical thinking, good communication, and prioritization of care are essential skills.
There is a phlebotomy service available 24/7 but no IV team.
There is continuous respiratory therapist availability in the ED.
Support is provided by an ED Technician at a 1:10 ratio.
24/7 coverage by physicians and nurse practitioners is available.
The charting system used is EPIC.
Alaris and Omnicell equipment is also used.
Travelers might float to inpatient Med/Surg, PCU, or ICU areas, but only as task nurses and not for full assignments.
Orientation includes facility instructions and ED-specific education along with on-unit training shifts.
Scheduling is variable, and travelers fill slots based on permanent staff schedules.
