**Job Description:**

- Responsible for preparing the sterile field for surgical operations, including the setup of sterile instruments.
- Assist surgeons in gowning, gloving, and draping patients for surgery.
- Directly support the surgical team during operations by passing instruments and supplies, holding retractors, and anticipating surgeons' needs.
- Support the department by distributing supplies and performing equipment maintenance, testing, and setup as needed.
- Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures.
- May perform specific procedures and help orient other staff to the department.
- Assist surgeons in various surgeries or procedures and determine the needs of the surgeons to achieve quality patient care.
- Establish and maintain a sterile field, including sterile tables, tools, and patient draping.
- Select and prepare necessary supplies and equipment for each surgical procedure and check for working order.
- Ensure routine and priority tasks are completed within established departmental time frames.
- Perform general clerical tasks, such as answering phones, updating patient appointments, and managing electronic health records.
- Prepare and complete accurate documentation related to supply inventory and order new supplies when necessary.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and safe working environment, ensuring the operating room is clean before and after procedures.
- Inspect and calibrate equipment for proper operation and record quality control results, reporting malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Maintain strict confidence of all patients' protected health information (PHI) and protect all PHI from accidental or inappropriate disclosure.
- Perform quality work in compliance with department standards, policies, and procedures, as well as regulatory agencies to deliver the highest level of patient safety and care.
