Job Specialty: Med-Surg
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Rotating 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM / 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, including rotating weekends
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Med-Surg experience
License: Active TX RN License required. Temporary licenses are not accepted.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Must-Have:
- 2+ years of Med-Surg experience
Job Description:
- Provide high-quality care to patients with a range of medical conditions.
- Perform tracheostomy care and manage wound vacs/large dressing changes.
- Conduct 3-way bladder irrigation and other unit-specific procedures.
- Engage in patient teaching and communication, utilizing a patient communication board.
- Document using the Meditech system; Meditech experience is preferred.
- Perform cardiac and some hemodynamic monitoring.
- Administer IV fluids efficiently, ensuring they are adjusted before alarms occur.
- Coordinate with the healthcare team to anticipate patient needs, reducing call light use.
- Assess and provide PRN medications proactively.
- Comply with floating policy as needed within the healthcare facility.
- Adhere to dress code, wearing navy scrub tops and pants, with options for navy or white scrub jackets.
- Maintain cleanliness and professionalism in appearance, including hair and body art regulations.
- Follow unit guidelines and attendance policies.
