Job Summary and Qualifications

Job Summary and Qualifications

* You will demonstrate knowledge of physiology and function of the venous system of the human body, and collection techniques used to draw blood from patients.
* You will collect blood samples from patients per laboratory policy and procedure.
* You will decide the best method for drawing blood depending on the specific patient.
* You will practice proper patient identification.
* You will label blood vials according to established procedures including use of automated patient identification systems.

What qualifications you will need:

* High School diploma or equivalent
* Completion of a certified phlebotomy course (strongly preferred)
* Demonstrated phlebotomy experience
* Interpersonal skills to successfully interact with all co-workers, staff, patients, patient families and vendors
* Good phlebotomy, computer, and communication skills
