TITLE: Educational Diagnostician

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Degree Requirements and licenses as determined by EPSB for a Special Education Teacher.
  2. Three years or more of successful teaching experiences in the area of special education.
  3. Experience in conducting standardized assessments and interpretation of data used to assess student achievement in the areas of academic and behavior.

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education

JOB GOAL: Assess the educational, learning styles, and program needs of students who may be eligible to receive special education services. Provide diagnostic information to the multidisciplinary team and work cooperatively with instructional personnel to provide the most appropriate programs for students with disabilities

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Conduct educational assessments including behavioral observations of students.
  2. Understand and select appropriate assessment tools.
  3. Adhere to standardized protocol for administering assessments. 4. Prepare and submit reports of assessment data, in a specified format, to the evaluating psychologist.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to use technology in supporting the assessment process, writing reports, and sharing web based information.
  5. Coordinate schedules and timelines with the school psychologist for completing evaluations in compliance with state guidelines.
  6. Participate in the Admissions and Release Committee (ARC) meetings regarding presentation and interpretation of assessment data, instructional implications of the data, and development of Individual Education Plans (IEP) for students.
  7. Provides staff development training in assigned schools to assist school personnel in the identification and understanding of students with disabilities.
  8. Create and maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation regarding students' evaluation needs and assessment administration.
  9. Collaborates with school personnel on Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) as needed.
  10. Attend training and staff meetings as required.
  11. Communicate effectively in both written and oral forms.
  12. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  13. Maintains regular attendance and exemplary punctuality.
  14. Travel to schools within the district to perform duties as an itinerant staff member.
  15. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  16. Work collaboratively with general and special education staff, building level administration and central office administration to support the needs of students with disabilities.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.

TERMS of EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work days to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing. Requires the ability to execute simple grasping and fine manipulations.

Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching. Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weights.
