Job Overview: Webber International University seeks qualified candidates for an Athletics Communications Graduate Assistantship. This is a two-year (20-month) position.

This position is contingent for renewal for the 2025-26 academic year pending performance evaluation/review at the end of the 2024-25 academic year. This position is based out of the Sabbaugh Athletic Center on campus.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Serve as the primary communications contact for 1-2 sports in each athletic season
  • Research, write, and edit releases featuring student-athletes, coaches, and teams
  • Assist in producing content for webberathletics.com, SUN Digital Network, and official athletics social media accounts
  • Maintain statistics for assigned sports (in-game, reporting, recordkeeping)
  • Help produce athletic publications such as game programs, game notes, recruit guides, etc.
  • Promote and nominate student-athletes for weekly and annual awards
  • Work with print, radio, and television media to promote Webber Athletics
  • Arrange and/or perform gameday responsibilities such as public address, clock management, scoreboard operation, music, etc.
  • Mentor student assistants, interns, and Sport Management practicum students
  • Work in collaboration with the Sports Information Director to produce accurate and timely information
  • Research and stay current on conference, state and national sport trends. Oversee the production and use of the SUNC Network for Warrior Athletics.
  • Maintain awareness of NAIA and SUNC rules and regulations, ensuring compliance with all requirements.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Communications, or related field
  • Position is concurrent with acceptance into a graduate degree program at Webber International University for the 2024-2025 academic year.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of various sport statistical software.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Social media platform knowledge (IG, Twitter, FB).
  • Some experience with Photoshop and/or InDesign.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays

Preferred Requirements
  • Experience with website content management software.
  • Knowledge of trends in sports communication and technology.
  • Familiarity with the rules of a variety of sports.
  • Extensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Sports photography skills.
  • Past Internship/Co-op or professional work experience.
