Come and join our dedicated team of pharmacy professionals at Johnson Memorial Hospital, located in Stafford Springs, CT

You would manage the Pharmacy day-to-day operations as well as pharmacy staff at Johnson Memorial Hospital. Ensures the safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals through their proper storage, handling, evaluation, preparation, compounding, labeling, dispensing, and administration in conjunction with state and federal regulations and departmental policies. Maintains proper records. Follows department guidelines with regard to clinical interventions and provides drug information as required and /or requested.

**What you will do:**

+ Manages daily operations of the pharmacy along with managing activities of the pharmacy staff in order to provide effective and efficient pharmacy services.

+ Interviews, hires, orients, trains, schedules, ensures competence, evaluates the performance of and, when necessary, recommends corrective action and discharge of pharmacy staff. Prepares work schedules to ensure adequate coverage, and monitors work activities to ensure all pharmacy procedures are performed accurately and in a timely manner.

+ Provides input into development of departmental policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and assists Springfield Market Clinical Pharmacy Manager in preparing capital and operating budgets.

+ Responsible for ordering of all controlled medications. Oversees controlled substance inventory in the hospital and participates in the hospital drug diversion committee and activities to prevent diversion.

+ Prepares, dispenses, and supervises the preparation of all medications for patient consumption in conjunction with state and federal regulations and department policies. Ensures these same medications are delivered to the right patient in a most timely manner.

+ Checks for allergies, potential drug-drug interactions/incompatibilities, and adverse drug reactions on all patients before dispensing medication and utilizes appropriate communication channels to communicate with prescribers when necessary.

+ Assesses need for formulary items ordered and accordingly, initiates contact with prescriber or benefits provider for substitute.

+ Monitors appropriate lab data to assure patients receive proper dose of medications/nutrition/electrolyte needs and when data is available.

+ Advises other health care professionals on drug interactions, incompatibilities, side effects, and proper administration of medications.

+ Works with department leadership to develop goals; contributes to achieving these.

+ The supervisor will contribute to have a regular staffing responsibility in the department as required by the schedule and needs of the department.

**Minimum Requirements:**

+ Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or a Pharm D degree

+ One (1) to three (3) years of previous related pharmacist experience. Previous management experience preferred.

+ Licensure required as a Pharmacist by the state of Connecticut.

+ Work requires the ability to counsel and educate patients and their families, communicate effectively with physicians and other health care professionals, assign and follow-up on the work of other employees, or performs other duties requiring a comparable level of communication skill.

+ Work requires competency in providing direct patient care to pediatric, adolescent, young adult, adult, and geriatric patients.
