ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

To support the child's development through strengthening the parent-child relationship and collaborate with parents to set goals for themselves and their children.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities :
  • Implementation of the chosen evidence-based program model and research-based with fidelity.
  • Provides learning experiences to parents that support child development, including using a developmental parenting and the facilitative approach.
  • Recruit, establish and maintain a caseload of fifteen (15) infants and toddlers and maintain all required documentation to support comprehensive services provided to families on a weekly basis during a 60-minute visit that addresses the development of young children and support needed for families.
  • Develop in each child and adult an awareness of their worth as an individual and their role in the family and community.
  • Plan and develop with parents, an individualized program for the family which includes establishment of a caring positive professional relationship in a climate of mutual trust, and respect for the culture and diversity of each family.
  • Work with parents to strengthen their knowledge of child development; help parents to understand how children learn and grow during the critical early years from birth to age three; plan and conduct child education activities to meet the child's language, cognitive, physical, social and emotional needs.
  • Carry out the curriculum plan by providing individualized developmentally appropriate activities for each child through observing, assessing and documenting the progress of the child on a regular basis.
  • Communicate regularly with parents by means of parent meetings, newsletters, and home visits.
  • Plan and coordinate the work of parents and other family members in the group and on family outings including field trips in order to obtain the maximum benefits from their efforts.
  • Create effective opportunities for learning through use of the home environment and daily family routines.
  • Have a working knowledge of resources available in the community and be able to effectively assist families in accessing resources such as housing, public aid, health services, childcare and legal services, etc.
  • Develop and implement home visit plans, group meeting agendas, and lesson plans to ensure curriculum of the Prevention Initiative home-based program.
  • Ensure parents are receiving training to support their engagement and interaction to with their children in their home environment.
  • Implement the Family Goal Plan as indicated in program policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other program or community service providers regarding the needs of families to ensure their access the resources needed to address challenges that may be occurring which affects their basic needs.
  • Enter all data into the appropriate systems as indicated in the Prevention Initiative manual.
  • Sanitize equipment and toys before and after home visits take place.
  • Request supplies as needed for the for program in accordance with the program budget.
  • Engage in individual and programmatic reflective supervision experiences.
  • Attends meeting sponsored by the Illinois State Board of Education to obtain knowledge regarding the implementation of the Prevention Initiative Program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS :

Experience: Bachelor or Associate degree in Early Childhood Education with 5 to 7 years of experience working directly with young children birth to age three and their families in licensed childcare facilities.

Credential:

Bachelor's or Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate and interpret State of Illinois requirements of the Prevention Initiative program.
  • Mathematics and language arts proficiency
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, etc.), Google Sheets and Google Forms
  • Proficient in data entry and management
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Able to work collaboratively with teams
  • Demonstrated reliability regarding attendance and work performance
  • Ability to be creative, flexible and adaptive in ALL activities and responsibilities
  • Must be a team player
