Company Description

Hills and Dales Preschool is home to an Ohio Department of Education (ODE) licensed Special Needs/Inclusion Preschool Program. As required by this licensure, typically developing peers and children with developmental delays on Individual Education Plans (IEPs) learn side by side. This model helps both children with and without special needs to learn from each other, develop social skills and create friendships, which follow them as they move into public education. Hills and Dales offers fun activities using the AEPS curriculum, Heggerty for phonemic awareness, and A Little SPOT of Feelings for social-emotional development, as well as guided gym activities, art and music appreciation sessions, literacy enrichment, a sensory room, and American Sign Language (ASL) for students and staff. iPads and upgraded technology support classroom instruction.

Children receive therapy services as needed from Occupational, Speech, Physical and Behavioral Therapists. A Sensory Room, gymnasium, and playground enhance the services provided to the children.

Job Description

The Highland County Board of Developmental Disabilities is seeking a full time Preschool Teacher and Intervention Specialist for their preschool program at the Hills and Dales Preschool.

Qualifications

Qualified Preschool Teacher/Intervention Specialist candidates must meet Ohio Department of Education and Ohio Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities licensing requirements. A Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field is required. In addition, the Preschool Teacher/Intervention Specialist must have one of the following credentials: 1) a valid intervention specialist license or education of the handicapped certificate with an endorsement in pre-kindergarten special needs or early education of the handicapped; or 2) a valid pre-kindergarten certificate or endorsement or an early childhood license with an endorsement in pre-kindergarten special needs or early education of the handicapped; or 3) a valid early childhood intervention specialist or 4) a valid supplemental teaching license (or willingness to obtain one) in the area of pre-kindergarten special needs, early childhood intervention specialist, or intervention specialist in the areas of visually impaired or hearing impaired.

Additional Information

The HCBDD is a drug-free workplace which prohibits the use of marijuana (recreational marijuana and medical cannabis). Individual must be able to pass criminal background checks as required by the Ohio Revised Code; 180-day probation period must be completed. Individual must be able to pass BCI and FBI criminal background checks as required by the Ohio Revised Code; pass a preemployment drug screen, physical and TB test, and have a valid Ohio driver's license with a clean driving record and a satisfactory MVR CORSA score.
