About Whitten Regional CenterWhitten Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs located in Clinton, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Job Responsibilities
Under the supervision of aRegistered Nurse, this position provides daily nursing care, training, activities,and treatment to the people who live at the Regional Centersin accordance withall licensing andcertification requirements, the South Carolina Nursing Practice Act, and South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs Policies and Procedures.
- Administersroutine oral, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications as well as treatments in accordance with nursing protocol, facility policies, and procedures.
- Monitors health conditions of theindividuals andreports findings to medical provider and appropriatestaff. Assistsphysician/practitioner with examinations and treatments as needed.
- Maintains a safe and sanitary living and working environment.
- Ensuresaccountability and protection from harm for all individualsthroughappropriate and thorough documentation.
- ReviewsMonthlyMedication Administration Record (MAR)and 90-day recertification orders, completes healthcarerecords, AIMS/DISCUS, swallowing and SAOM Evaluations. Assistswith weights and heights as ordered and indicated by policy and procedures. Properlydocuments as needed.
- Performs and participates in activities as otherwise assigned by the supervisor to include, but not limitedto,participation in on-call rotation procedure.

Successful completion of a registered nursing education program for professional nursing or an equivalent course of study from a registered nursing education program per Section 40-33-32 of the South Carolina Nurse Licensure Act.

Ability to lift and moveindividuals.General knowledge of individuals with intellectual disabilities.Abilityto work in a group home like setting or ICF. Physical ability to work with individuals who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile.
