Paraprofessional Position: Salary Range $35-42K
Position Purpose:
- The Academic Interventionist's primary purpose is to assist in improving academic achievement of all students in grades K-5.
- Work directly with teacher(s) to assist students in reinforcing Reading and Mathematics skills.
- Interventionist will also plan, implement, and assess intervention services to ensure fidelity; increase teachers' capacity to effectively implement identified core or universal instructional practices for individual and small groups of students.
- Interventionists will work alongside classroom teachers in planning and implementing English/ELA and math intervention initiatives through various intervention programs such as MobyMax and/or Achieve 3000.
Qualifications Profile:
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution (an Associate's Degree in Education from an accredited institution or proof of significant coursework related to Education may be considered with teaching experience) and a New Jersey Substitute Teaching License.
- Applicants must show evidence of coursework in Mathematics, Computer, English/ELA, Reading, Science and/or Bilingual.
- Applicants must demonstrate efficient use of the Microsoft Office Suite and other technology software programs such as Google Apps for Education (GAFE).
- Minimum three (3) years of actual work experience working directly with students.
- Experience using computer applications/information technology and data to assist and/or facilitate instruction with students.
- Understanding of and commitment to implementing academic intervention best practices for students in grades K-5.
Position Job Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Vice-Principal, the Academic Interventionist will:
Essential Functions:
- Manage and monitor a caseload of students and work within a Response to Intervention (RTI) instructional model
- Collaborate with teachers for planning and implementing instructional tasks assigned to individual or small groups of students in a Response to Intervention (RTI) model
- Assists and guides students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
- Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs.
- Participates in IEP process and serves as resource for the student personnel evaluation team as needed.
- Assist students with physical or mental disabilities with activities of daily living for the purpose of maximizing their ability to participate in school or learning activities.
- Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students, including those with disabilities or other special needs.
- May assist in the training of other interventionist.
