**JOB DESCRIPTION:**
The postdoctoral fellow will conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor. This is a training position, and is not expected to be a permanent position.
**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:**
+ Plan and perform experiments independently
+ Prepare lab reports and manuscripts
+ Performs a variety of immunology and virology assays and procedures including cell culture, ELISA, western blot, PCR, plaque assay, and flow cytometry
+ Assists with the conduct of studies with animals
+ Interacts and perform team studies with other researchers, including graduate students and research staff
+ Capable of presenting data at scientific meetings
**MARGINAL OR PERIODIC FUNCTIONS:**
+ Performs related duties as assigned.
**KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:**
+ Ability to plan and perform experiments independently
+ Ability to observe and record experiments/research and report accurately
+ Writing skills for protocols, reports, journal manuscripts and funding applications
+ Mentoring and teaching skills for interaction with graduate students
+ Presentation skills
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:**
Ph.D., M.D. or Doctoral equivalent in Virology or Immunology or related fields
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Work experience, skills/competencies, education, license/certification)**
Prior training/experience with animal and/or immunological studies
**SALARY:**
Commensurate with experience.
