Switchboard Operator

The Switchboard serves as the communications hub for many of the organization's incoming phone calls, vendors and hospital visitors, and the Switchboard operator ensures timely and accurate handling of questions and transferring of calls, supporting the efforts of Winona Health's Emergency Department. The Switchboard staff also operates paging, security and alarms systems. Processes incoming phone calls for Winona Health in a timely, accurate and courteous manner. Pages doctors and staff according to policy guidelines.

Essential Skills and Experience:

* High School Diploma or Equivalent
* Previous Experience managing a PBX or multi-phone-line system is desirable.
* Basic Computer Skills: Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a busy, ever-changing environment

Internal Applicant Policy:

It is the policy of Winona Health to work with employees in an equitable fashion regarding promotions, transfers and position reclassifications.

Any employee wishing to apply for another available position at Winona Health must submit an application for consideration through the internal application portal. Employees requesting to change positions should have successfully completed at least six (6) months in their current position. Employees currently in the formal disciplinary process may be required to meet with the Director of Human Resources to determine eligibility to request transfer. The employee's past performance, experience, training and qualifications will be considered in transfer/hiring decisions.
