Hourly Wage:

New Hire: $25.79  ·  90 days: $27.14  ·  1 year: $28.68  ·  2 years: $30.14  ·  3 years: $31.79  

About Account Technician:

Performs general accounting work involving the independent application of basic accounting principles and practices in the Sheriff's Administrative Office. Employees in this class are responsible for maintaining primary record keeping and reporting systems, which affect multiple departments, divisions and/or accounts.  Work requires independent judgment on technical accounting issues. May review the work of other employees or serve as lead worker. Knows the County's Customer-Centered Culture principles, the County's Mission, Strategic Plan and Core Values and demonstrates a commitment to customer satisfaction for all customers on a regular basis.

* Verifies, monitors and adjusts invoices, payroll and billings in accordance with regulatory agencies, contracts and grant requirements.
* Prepares reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and/or regulatory agencies and grant requirements.
* Reconciles budget information and assists with County budget calculations.
* Determines/adjusts account balances by analyzing/selecting the appropriate method mandated by authoritative sources including regulatory agencies and/or generally accepted accounting principles.
* Researches/analyzes the impact of internal and external procedure and policy changes and reports findings.
* May attend meetings where accounting and reports are discussed.
* Performs all other related duties as assigned.
* Knows the products they personally produce and the customers of each product. Listens to the "Voice of the Customer "and closes gaps between customer expectations and experience whenever possible.
* Associate's degree in accounting required.  
* One (1) to three (3) years of experience in a related field required working with accounting procedures experience, preferably in a large metropolitan county or government body; or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
* Significant knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.  
* Knowledge of banking practices.  
* Good knowledge of office and business practices.  
* Skills in preparing accounting, financial statistical statements, and compiling basic and supporting data.  
* Skill in the use of a keyboard, calculator and spread sheet software like Excel.  
* Ability to apply knowledge of governmental accounting principles and procedures to a variety of transactions.  
* Ability to work effectively with officials and other employees.  
* Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information or data.  
* Ability to serve as a lead worker to review the work of Account Clerks.  

Special Requirements:

Must pass a County physical examination which includes a drug test after offer of employment.  May be subject to criminal history review. Regular work attendance required. Must remain awake and aware of surroundings at all times. Mandatory and voluntary overtime will be required at various times throughout the year and/or during special projects.Monday - Friday
