IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR JOB TITLE: Director of Diagnostic Imaging
Position Summary
The Registered Ultrasound Technologist operates ultrasound equipment to make clinical diagnostic images as directed by a physician. Performs routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices. The Ultrasound Tech possesses the ability to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age and specific needs.
Essential Functions
- Operates ultrasound equipment to make clinical diagnostic images as directed by physicians. This function can be performed in-house or at outside facilities.
- Performs routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices.
- Responsible for QA, and proper sterilization of all equipment.
- Assists registration by verifying all registration packets and moving patients from pre-registration status to active status.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.
Non-essential Functions
- Prepares the department for American College of Radiology accreditation.
- Assists Registration by moving patients from pre-registration status to active status.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited program in Ultrasound.
- Has passed the ARDMS exam or is eligible to take exam. Those eligible to take exam must pass the exam within one year of date of hire.
- Maintain current ARDMS registration.
- Must fulfill weekend, holiday and call requirements.
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS
Mental / Emotional Demands
- Must be able to read and comprehend instructions, policies and procedures.
- Apply common sense to carry out instructions given in written or oral form.
- Ability to reason and make critical judgments.
- Must be mentally alert and detail oriented, capable of dealing with a diversity of tasks and interruptions.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and perform daily tasks with a minimum of supervision.
- Must be able to remain calm and functional in a crisis or confrontation.
Physical Requirements
Very Heavy Work - Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Heavy Work.
