Respiratory Therapist

Reports to: Respiratory Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: Provides respiratory care to patients at Cherokee Regional Medical Center in accordance with IA code 152B. The Respiratory Care department provides quality healthcare services to our patients. We are your preferred provider of exceptional care. We strive to hold these five principles as our standard of excellence when working with our patients, integrity, compassion, accountability, resourcefulness, and to be engaged with our patients.

ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE: Flexible hours

* Required: High school diploma or equivalent
* Required: Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program

License/Registration/Certification:

* Required: Iowa Respiratory Care and Polysomnography Respiratory Care Practitioner
* Required: Credential National Board of Respiratory Care Therapist
* Required: Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support; ACLS, PALS, NRP

Experience:

* Preferred: Respiratory Care experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, required.
* Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files and reports, and review for accuracy.
* Highly developed problem-solving skills.
* Ability to adapt to flexible work schedules and frequent interruptions.
* Ability to prioritize to meet deadlines on daily work.
* Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Excellent decision making in critical situations.
* Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with staff, patients and visitors.
* Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes patient needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of patient satisfaction.
* Skilled in service orientation by actively looking for ways to help people.
* Ability to engage patients and to create and enhance their connection to the organization.
* Ability to work under pressure..
* Ability to perform a variety of duties, and change from one type to another type without losing efficiency or composure.
* Skilled in standard office equipment and applications such as Microsoft, spreadsheets, and power points.
* Knowledge of applicable safety requirements.
* Knowledge of professional standards and regulation.
* Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, healthcare policies and procedures.
* Knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures.
