Licensed Practical Nurse

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core Duties:

* Initiate, perform and complete assigned duties in providing care to variable patient populations.


* Complete assigned patient care based on the patients' conditions, use judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments, and accurately recognize, report and record relevant patient information.


* Observe, identify and respond to the patient's needs for care, including medication, equipment-assisted care and patient/family education.


* Prepare and administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular and/or intravenous) and perform treatments according to established policies/procedures.


* Recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the RN and/or MD/DO, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed.


* Perform support duties for complex diagnostic tests and/or specialized practices or procedures, which include preparing the patient, assisting in the diagnostic examination, preparing and handling specialized instruments or other specialized equipment, and monitoring the patient's condition before, during, and following the procedure.


* Orient peers and ancillary personnel to unit policies and procedures, skills, and standards of practice.


* Integrate healthy work environment principles that result in improved patient healthcare delivery, education of patients and their families and employee satisfaction.



Specific Tasks: The duties include but are not limited to the following:

* Serves as a practical nurse performing patient care and nursing administrative duties for outpatients in accordance with established policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.


* Performs a variety of diagnostic procedures; sets up procedure room and equipment; provides individualized patient teaching on a preventative healthcare and health maintenance.


* Prepares and administers prescribed medications by oral, sublingual, intramuscular, intradermal, subcutaneous, topical, dermal and inhalation routes.


* Prepares and positions patient for examinations and treatments. Participates in in-services and continuing education programs.


* Establishes and maintains good interpersonal relationships with co-workers, families, peers, and other health team members.


* Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned and stored at the end of each work shift.


* Ensure preventive maintenance and routine cleaning are performed as directed.


* Ensure a safe work environment and employee safe work habits.


* The nurse shall provide patients with the utmost care and attention. All patients shall be assured of their privacy and personal dignity.


* The nurse shall prepare all documentation to meet or exceed established standards of the MTF, to include, but not limited to, timeliness, accuracy, content and signature. Only MTF, Air Force, or DHA-approved abbreviations shall be used for documentation of the patient health record.


* Shall be able to read, understand, speak, and write English well enough to communicate effectively and be a United States citizen.


* Must have, as a minimum, a current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certificate or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) from an accredited national, state or military trained equivalent school.


* Shall have and maintain an active, valid, current, unrestricted license (with no limitations, stipulations or pending adverse actions) to practice nursing as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or a licensed vocational nurse (LVN) in a US jurisdiction.


* Knowledge of standard nursing care principles, procedures, and practices.



QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS:

* Degree: Certificate. Graduation from a State Board of Nursing approved LPN/LVN training program.


* Education: Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by the Commission on Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) or another acceptable accreditation body outlined in the TO.


* Experience: Possess a minimum of practical or vocational nurse experience after graduation.


* Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a practical or vocational nurse.


* Legal Authorization to Work in the United States: HCWs performing under this task order shall have proof of U.S. Citizenship (certified copy of birth certificate or naturalization papers required). However, legal aliens who possess a green card or H1B visa, who are in compliance with the U.S. Immigration Laws, and who meet the qualifications required herein may perform under the task order. In addition, the Government shall not be held liable for not allowing performance under this task order by a contractor employee who fails to comply with, or to maintain, the citizenship or legal alien status requirements stated herein.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

Location: Colorado Military Health System - Buckley AFB

Service: LPN/LVN - Women's Health

Place of Performance: The work to be performed under this contract will be at Buckley SFB, CO.

Recognized Holidays: Contract HCWs will be required to work on federally

recognized holidays.

* New Year's Day, January 1st
* Martin Luther King's Birthday, 3rd Monday in January
* President's Day, 3rd Monday in February
* Memorial Day, Last Monday in May
* Independence Day, July 4th
* Labor Day, 1st Monday in September
* Columbus Day, 2nd Monday in October
* Veterans Day, November 11th
* Thanksgiving Day, 4th Thursday in November
* Christmas Day, December 25th

NOTE 1. Any holidays that are declared by Presidential Executive Order shall be observed in the same manner as the holidays listed above. If the area in which a contract employee is scheduled to work is closed for any reason and the employee is not required to report in, payment will not be made for those hours.

Hours of Performance:

* Duty hours will vary by position and location; however, typical duty hours are scheduled between 0700 -1700, Monday through Friday.


* Hours are subject to change and may include nights and weekends.


* In the event the HCW is required to work beyond their scheduled duty hours for any reason, the duty hours will be adjusted within the current pay period; the HCWs shall not work more than 40 hours per week.


* The performance (duty) hours are as follows: Buckley Space Force Base, Monday through Friday, 0730-1630.



Closures: During a planned closure of the facility due to training, holiday or unplanned closure due to unusual and compelling circumstances (e.g., natural disasters, military emergencies, severe weather), the Contractor will be compensated for the unplanned closure.
