As an Estimator at Frontier-Kemper, reporting to the Mining Division General Manager, you will have the opportunity to:

Description:

* Assist with organizing and managing the bid process in conjunction with the Estimating Manager
* Review and analyze bid documents to develop project labor, materials, and equipment requirements and costs
* Travel to attend pre-bid meetings and site visits while establishing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, engineers, and consultants
* Consult with suppliers and subcontractors during the bidding process to determine costs
* Assist with the technical proposals and presentations
* Assist with the preparation of post-bid work plans, procurement, scheduling, and cost control
* Actively participate in production tracking and post-job analysis
* Assist with maintaining date base of historical estimates and project information records

Requirements:

* A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management is required
* 5 years' experience in heavy civil, mining, construction or a related area with good working knowledge of general engineering applications and construction practices
* Previous experience with field engineering, estimating, project scheduling, and technical writing required
* Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office products, civil estimating software (preferably HCSS), and scheduling software (preferably Primavera P6).
* Effective written communication, verbal communication, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to perform a variety of tasks and manage those tasks concurrently within firm timelines
* Ability to read and understand construction documents including contracts, specifications, and drawings
* Attention to detail with an emphasis on time management and organizational skills
* Ability to travel overnight as needed on an infrequent basis
* Ability and willingness to visit sites (mines and tunnels) within an underground environment
