REPORTS TO: Head Football Coach
JOB SUMMARY:
Provide a learning environment that allows players to learn new skills and reinforce established skills to improve. An assistant coach of each sport has the responsibility of carrying on the sport in the best
interest of the school district by adhering to the policies and regulations of the Pottsgrove Board of Directors, as well as the practices and procedures of theschool administration. Further, an assistant coach
should have a working knowledge of Pottsgrove School District and the rules and regulations of the Pottsgrove Athletic Department, Pioneer Athletic Conference and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic
Association (PIAA).
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with coordinating skill development, program philosophy, and equipment management.
- Assist in providing a safe environment for athletes, establishing standards of safeguards against possible injury.
- Assist in planning and supervising practices and training sessions/events.
- Be available for scouting upcoming opponents at the request of the Head Coach.
- Attend staff meetings at the request of the Head Coach.
- Assist with end-of-the-season recognition awards for athletes.
- Maintain communications and a working relationship with the Athletic Director, Head Coach, and other coaching staff.
- Maintain knowledge of current coaching trends by attending seminars, workshops, and in-service training sessions.
- Ensure the building is secure after every practice session, which includes turning off lights and locking doors; share responsibility of post practice/game supervision until athletes leave school property.
- Attend all required meetings and trainings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Athletic Director, and/or Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma is necessary
Experience in the game of football is required
Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code) Nonresidents and Pennsylvania residents who have not resided in the Commonwealth for at least two years prior to the date of application for employment are required to obtain an FBI Criminal History Record
Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to reach above and below the waist
Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects
Some crouching, crawling, stooping, kneeling, bending, and twisting of the body required
Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 50 lbs.
Ability to mostly walk with some running and standing throughout the work environment

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Typical office environment
Subject to inside environmental conditions
TEMPERAMENT:
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills
Must be able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions

Must possess coaching skills
Ability to evaluate film in the scouting process
