Classroom Registered Behavior Technician

Qualifications:
- Must hold and maintain current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician as issued by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACBA)
- Must hold (or obtain) and maintain Crisis Prevention Institute certification;
- Experience working with children with developmental disabilities;
- Experience working with children with behavior problems
- Excellent communication skills;
- Computer literate;
- Bilingual-Spanish speaking a plus;
- Required to speak, read, and write English;
- Ability to work effectively with minimal daily guidance
- Successful experience working in a team setting;
- Required Physical and negative Mantoux result or a non active disease;
- Required criminal history check and proof of U.S citizenship or resident alien status
REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Special Services and Behavior Analyst Certified Board Staff Member
Job Goals:
The Classroom Registered Behavior Technician provides classroom - wide and direct 1:1 behavioral interventions to teach communication, social skills and reduce problematic behaviors in the school setting. The Classroom Registered Behavior Technician will utilize interventions developed out of the science of Applied Behavior Analysis. The Behavior Technician shall work under the supervision of a certified behavior analyst, and in collaboration with the district staff.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Follow protocol and District Policies and Procedure guidelines.
- Establishes & maintains therapeutic relationship by pairing self as a reinforcing entity and building the value for the student of social interaction with the BT
- Follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols
- Follow and record data for prescribed toilet training protocols.
- Prompts safe and socially acceptable replacement behaviors in order to build a repertoire of communication, social interaction, and problem solving skills
- Fades prompts appropriately to promote both successful and independent responding
- Increases the frequency or duration of safe and appropriate replacement behaviors by providing access to reinforcers (desired items/actions, attention, or removal of demands/adversive situations)
- Maintain confidentiality
- Accurately collects behavior data including: A-B-C, count, frequency, duration, latency, inter-response time, event, and interval based recording
- Follows the treatment plan goals and interventions utilizing sound judgment and seeks out appropriate consultation
- Collaborates with school/district team members to provide treatment effectively and without disruption to the environment or other individuals in the environment
- Educates all those involved about the role of ABA based interventions and the BT, and functions within boundaries of the BT role in providing treatment
- Reassessment as appropriate
- Assist Behavior Analyst(s) in preparing student materials as instructed
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment
- Maintain and acquire technical knowledge by attending required trainings.
- Attends staff meetings, training and workshops as assigned.
- Maintains a professional attitude, working cooperatively with district/program staff and parents; and treats all children and their families with dignity and respect
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal, the Superintendent, or their representative, as needed to support the goals and mission of Pinelands Regional School District
Environmental Demands:
- Occasional exposure to a variety of weather conditions
- Exposure to both heated/air conditioned and non-climate controlled environments
- Exposure to a building in which a variety of chemical substances are used for cleaning, instruction, and/or operation of equipment
- Potential exposure to a variety of childhood and adult illnesses
- Exposure to a workplace that is usually quiet, but can be noisy at times
Terms of Employment: Yearly, based on student needs
Salary: Salary per the PEA Salary Guide
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with state law and the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation
