**Position Summary:**

The Reference Laboratory Supervisor oversees all aspects of advanced serological testing performed in the Immunohematology Reference Lab and coordinates Pathology and Laboratory Medicine residents training in Immunohematology.

**Job Duties:**

1. Reviews serologic work, verifying problem patient records (20%).

2. Directs advanced serological work for difficult problem resolution (5%)

3. Maintains a detailed procedure manual, evaluating and implementing new techniques (10%)/

4. manages inventory of supplies (5%).

5. Performs workload recording (5%).

6. Maintains compliance with AABB standards for Immunohematology Reference Laboratories to maintain certification as an AABB Reference Laboratory (10%)

7. Coordinates residency training in serological techniques (30%).

8. Performs all duties of a Blood Bank Technologist in the Blood Bank Laboratory.

9. Other duties as assigned

**Relationships/Authorities:**

+ Reports to the Blood Bank Chief Supervisor, Medical Director or Assistant Medical Director

+ Interacts with regulatory inspectors, auditors and assessors as necessary

**Education/Experience:**

+ MS and three years of clinical laboratory experience

+ BS in Medical Technology and two years of clinical laboratory experience

+ BS and five years' experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

+ ASCP registered as an MT and SBB strongly desirable

+ Must be NYS Licensed or eligible for NYS licensure

+ One year of Reference laboratory experience desirable

**Pay Range**

Pay Range: $36.50 - $47.45 Hourly
