Job Summary

The Counseling Program at the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) is housed in the College of Health Sciences. The Counseling Program is 100% online and is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Programs (CACREP). The Program offers concentrations in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, Addictions Counseling, and Combined options.

This Counseling faculty position is for a Clinical Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Counseling (non-tenure track) that will teach online courses in the Counseling program, supervise practicum and internship students, maintain a research agenda, and serve at the college and program level. The candidate must be able to collaborate effectively with colleagues on training, program development, and accreditation activities. Because the program is 100% online, this will be a remote position.

The Counseling Program faculty are looking for a faculty member to join the program who possesses one or more specializations in counseling related to clinical mental health, school, additions, and/or marriage, couple, and family. This position will assist in teaching core, specialty, and elective courses for the program and help maintain CACREP accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates with a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP accredited program and are fully credentialed in their specialty areas.
Duties and Responsibilities

The Clinical Assistant Professor of Counseling will:
  • Teach a 3-3 load for the fall and spring semesters (with overload opportunities); summer teaching may be available
  • Help coordinate their specialty concentration with curriculum development, maintenance, and accreditation compliance
  • Contribute to the annual virtual summer workshop
  • Provide service at the program level, such as academic and career advisement, accreditation, admissions, faculty meetings, etc.
  • Provide service at the college level through online committee work
  • Maintain a research agenda
  • Participate actively in professional, honorary, and accrediting organizations
  • Personally engage in professional activities that meet or exceed standards for graduate faculty
  • Collaborate effectively with departmental and inter-departmental colleagues on training, program development, and accreditation activities

Minimum Qualifications

Basic Qualifications for Clinical Assistant Professor:
  • A doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision with one or more specializations
  • At least two years of online teaching experience
  • Experience within their specializations
  • Certification/licensure in their specializations
  • Eligible for a supervisor credential
  • Demonstrated research agenda

Preferred Qualifications
Five or more years experience teaching in a university setting in an online format
  • Experience with the following: Canvas, Zoom, and Tevera
  • Extensive training, experience, and credentials in their specialty area
  • Experience with the accreditation process
  • A strong sense of creativity, motivation to move forward, team participation, and a good sense of humor
