Research Project Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY:
Provide administrative support to facilitate the timely submission and subsequent pre- and post-award management for research endeavors. Serve as both the ombudsman and liaison to the Office of Research to ensure better support and coordination of all facets of pre and post award services. This position will provide supervision of all day to day research activities.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in research project management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Support faculty research interests and expertise by identifying appropriate potential sponsors and programs, communicating funding opportunity information to faculty by tracking information via computerized and written sources, and facilitating collaboration across faculty within the department
- Assist with peer-reviewed manuscript preparation and submission in collaboration with faculty authors.
- Under general supervision, act as a liaison for the department to the Office of Research and extramural funding agencies for contract and grant applications.
- Facilitate grant and/or contract submission. May include preparation of applications, institutional requirements and administrative processes as well as providing examples of various types of grant applications to investigators
- Finalize proposal submissions and ensure completeness, adherence to sponsor and institutional requirement and appropriateness of information prior to submission
- Electronically submit applications to extramural funding agencies
- Assist in obtaining and coordinating proposal components from various participants when multi-investigator awards are submitted.
- In collaboration with the Director of Operations, create grant budgets from investigator outlines; prepare and assemble supporting documents to assist PI in writing of budget justification.
- Help prepare re-budgeting requests, compile and prepare financial progress reports, arrange for and document the acquisition of equipment, coordinate time and effort information, track research time and effort.
- Facilitate communications by participating in training sessions and preparing information for institutional publications related to research.
- Help prepare regulatory documents with investigators, review submissions of protocols and grants sent to the Office of Research, monitor and advise faculty on regulatory changes and orient new researchers to the department and institutional procedures.
- Create, distribute, and collect surveys.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Skills & Qualifications:
Strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated knowledge of scientific principles
Excellent documentation and recordkeeping skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
Excellent project management skill
Outstanding interpersonal skills, high energy and motivated
Familiarity with the following are a plus:
Institutional Review Board (IRB): Principal Investigators and their study teams can initiate new study applications, make amendments to existing studies, submit continuing review applications and report safety events through this site.
