We are seeking a Research Tech Basic Science to join the state of the art sleep and behavioral neuroscience laboratory with a highly collaborative team. The SBNC is a highly dynamic research unit with at least a dozen active research protocols. This candidate must be willing and able to work evenings, nights and weekends. The ideal candidate would be flexible and looking to grow this experience into a career by pursuing Sleep credential from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT), the American Board of Sleep Medicine (RST) or the National Board of Respiratory Care (CRT-SDS or RRT-SDS) within 18 months of employment.

The incumbent will be assisting polysomnographic technologists in acquiring accurate and complete recordings of electrophysiological data in the Sleep and Behavioral Neuroscience Center (SBNC) laboratory. They will assist with study procedures as specified by the protocol design which may include (but is not limited to) monitoring of various data acquisition devices, administration of forms and paper/pencil and computer assessments, collection labeling and storage of urine/saliva samples and accurately obtaining vital signs from participants and patients.

This position is grant funded.

**Responsibilities:**

+ Maintain laboratory inventory, including timely ordering and receipt of required supplies and their proper storage.

+ Maintain a safe clean laboratory-working environment including appropriate equipment maintenance and usage, by conforming to laboratory and Hospital policies and standards.

+ Assist in performing research protocol experimental procedures, under close supervision, including appropriate collection, recording, storage and analysis of data.

+ Prepare, label, store and dispose of reagents and calibrates equipment for research projects.

+ Assist in obtaining educational resources necessary to perform and interpret research and to remain abreast in research area of function.

+ Follow appropriate research policies and procedures including all applicable laws and regulations and maintains scientific integrity including accurate data storage.

+ Responsible for following the mandatory reporting procedures for any incident or serious event that did affect or potentially could have affected the clinical care of any patient.

+ High school diploma or equivalent.

+ One year of college training or one year of experience working within a biomedical research laboratory environment.

+ Demonstrated ability to handle and process specimens for testing, including preparation of specimens, operation of laboratory equipment, microscopic examination, etc.

+ Demonstrated ability to accurately collect, store and interpret research data.

+ Interest in obtaining sleep credential from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT), the American Board of Sleep Medicine (RST) or the National Board of Respiratory Care (CRT-SDS or RRT-SDS) within 18 months of employment preferred.
