Responsibilities

* Promote professionalism and interact with colleagues in a way that promotes a cooperative working environment.
* Display technical expertise necessary to ensure timely and accurate results of laboratory procedures.
* Ensure specimens are obtained and processed in accordance with laboratory guidelines.
* Demonstrate proper communication skills to relate pertinent data or information about the patient or laboratory sample to appropriate care provider.
* Support organizational priorities to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
* Attain required competency and demonstrates the ability to follow procedural directions and protocols.
* Exhibit problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and evaluate critical laboratory results.
* Participate in the training/mentoring of new employees, students or interns including lectures and bench techniques.
* Able to prioritize and organize workload and assist other coworkers to maintain productivity.
* Demonstrate proper infection control practices, proper patient identification, performs proper prompt specimen transport.
* Responsible for other duties as assigned.
* Engage in self-evaluation of practice and takes action to improve knowledge and skills.
* Promote consensus building and applies techniques of conflict resolution and conduct improvement.
* Retain accountability for quality of care given to the patient.
* Promote service excellence and growth of the laboratory.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

* Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical or biological science OR Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician studies, or a chemical, physical or biological science associates degree.

Preferred Job Requirements

* ASCP or equivalent. Certification within a specific area, i.e. M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP) qualifies.
* Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Scientist within a clinical laboratory
