Assistant Professor of Psychology

Buena Vista University, a private, nationally recognized Midwestern baccalaureate institution located on the shores of a 3,200-acre natural lake, invites applications for a one or two-year visiting professor position in Clinical/Counseling Psychology to begin August 2024. The ideal candidate will be able to teach Counseling, Mental Disorders, Developmental Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Psychopathology, General Psychology, and courses within the candidate's area of expertise. Ph.D. preferred; master's degree considered. Candidates must have a commitment to excellence in teaching. In addition to a wide variety of courses, the Psychology program at BVU emphasizes research, critical thinking, and communication skills. Our undergraduate students present their research at regional conferences including the Minnesota Undergraduate Psychology Conference and the Midwest Psychological Association's annual conference. The Psychology program at BVU has an active Psi Chi chapter and Psychology Club.
To apply, please submit a letter of application, graduate school transcripts (photocopies acceptable but official copies required for appointment), teaching evaluation summaries, diversity statement, teaching philosophy statement, and current vita with the names of 4-6 references (including title, address, e-mail address, and telephone number). Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. This position is not eligible for an employer-sponsored visa and all applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
