ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Non rotating 40 hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities

Intake, process, identify, store, track, audit, and destroy drug evidence seized by the Corpus Christi Police Department.

* On a daily basis, process the contents of the narcotics drop box or any other narcotic evidence from the police department and document findings in official report.
* Examine drug evidence packages received, identify and classify contents, weigh and conduct simple chemical test on suspected drugs contained within, repackage, and deposit in appropriate storage location.
* Document contents, weigh and conduct chemical filed test on items contained in each drug evidence package that was received.
* Actions taken on drug evidence such as: out of lab, in from lab, out to court, in from court, released to other agency, etc.… In the CCPD computerized records management system.
* Transport drug evidence to and from DPS lab, as well as District, County and Federal courts.
* Conduct periodic audits of the drug evidence vault.
* Prepare monthly and annual reports of all drugs seized by the Corpus Christi Police Department.
* Research narcotic cases to determine if narcotics evidence is still required for court.
* Assist with destruction process of unneeded drugs.
* Provide expert testimony in District, County and Federal courts.
* May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* Requires an Associate's Degree
* Minimum of two (2) years of directly related experience
* A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered
* A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
