PM CUSTODIAL SUPERVISOR

REPORTS TO:

Facilities Supervisor or Designee

QUALIFICATIONS:

* State of New Jersey Education Facilities Manager Certification (preferred)
* In lieu of the New Jersey Educational Facilities Manager Certification, candidates will be considered who currently hold a New Jersey license for either Journeyman Electrician, Master Plumber or Master HVACR.
* Possess Black Seal License for the boilers.
* At least five years successful experience in the custodial and/or maintenance field including some supervisory experience.
* Specific knowledge of housekeeping and custodial equipment, materials and methods.
* Able and willing to respond to emergency and alarm calls after normal working hours.
* Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable within state law.
* Must work the District's established second shift hours Monday through Friday.
* Provide evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and clearance has been given by the Department of Education, or, during the initial six-month period provide a sworn statement that there have not been any convictions of a crime or a disorderly person's offense in accordance with 18A:6-7.1.
* Provide information that includes current/former employers within the last twenty (20) years in which the employment involved direct contact with children; a written authorization that consents to current and former employers disclosing certain information; and a written statement as to whether the applicant has any employment history regarding child abuse and/or sexual misconduct in accordance with N.J.S.A.18A:6-7.6.
* Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A.4.
* Pass the State required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required by N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A.4.
* Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL:

To supervise second (2nd) shift custodial staff in the maintenance of all district facilities in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness and safety.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, personnel, visitors and all members of the general public.
* Assist the Facilities Supervisor with the coordination and supervising all custodial functions such as; planning, scheduling, coordinating activities, training, discipline, evaluations, equipment, with the custodial staff to ensure a clean and safe environment.
* Assists with facilitating meetings with custodial staff when deemed necessary for purposes of training.
* Inspects each building bi-weekly, and more often if necessary, and confers Facilities Supervisor and with principals regarding custodial work.
* Maintains a record of all custodial personnel.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
* Provides support to the Facilities Supervisor to perform other tasks as may be assigned by the Facilities Supervisor or Superintendent of Schools.
* Provides support (as needed) to other employees and oversees work activities for the purpose of ensuring that custodial/maintenance assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner.
* Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.

* Function in a workplace that is usually moderately quiet but that can be noisy at times.
* Exposure to fumes from various art and cleaning materials.

COMPENSATION:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated once a year in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Personnel.
