Clinical Research Assistant

This position will be approximately 32 hours per week with a majority of those hours at our West Bloomfield Hospital location. Candidate must have reliable transportation from Henry Ford Cancer's Detroit location to our West Bloomfield location.
This research assistant will help our radiation oncologists manage two exciting new grant-funded projects. This includes research with using a smartphone application to track lung cancer patient symptoms, safeguarding patient cardiac function while receiving lung cancer treatment, and evaluating the clinical outcomes of cancer patients who receive a specialized course of radiation therapy.
This is a wonderful opportunity for a recent college graduate with a research background to learn about oncology, analyze electronic medical record data, and work closely with physician investigators to enroll patients in studies that will lead to better care and longer survival.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the investigator(s) and research coordinator, and following established policies and procedures:
· Performs a variety of clinical research++ activities, and participates in carrying out research objectives, ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory and protocol guidelines.
· Provides technical support to the investigator(s) and research coordinator and serves as a liaison between the institution and the sponsor.
· Researches literature in the field.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· High School Diploma or G.E.D.
· Completion of Medical Assistant course can be utilized in this position.
· A Bachelor's degree can be utilized in this position.
· Two to three years of relevant experience.
· Requires a working knowledge of computer applications.
· A working knowledge of research methodology, medical terminology preferred.
