Job Description

  • Must have an understanding of various diagnoses in the adolescent mental health field and understand recommended treatment for those illnesses.
  • Will have a basic understanding of different psychotropic medications and possible side effects from those medications.
  • Handles multiple priorities.
  • Independent discretion/decision making within the scope and responsibility of the position.
  • Manages emotions and is able to make decision under pressure.
  • Manages stress appropriately.

  • Provides counseling services to individuals, groups and families
  • Participates in assessment and treatment planning as appropriate
  • Documents all services provided and other significant behavior or incidents
  • Serves as a role model and source of feedback to the client
  • Intervenes in crisis situations using the approved Mandt System
  • Maintains alcohol and drug standard operating procedures manual and assists with ADAS manual
  • Explores ADAS or other finding opportunities
  • Duties may include direct supervision of youth and other milieu activities as assigned.
  • Provides structure, discipline and security as outlined the by individual plan of care to meet the needs of the client.
  • Communicates with all staff members and shares appropriate information with appropriate staff about outcome findings.
  • Involves staff members when possiblein appropriateactivities.
  • Reports and maintains a referral log for patients.
  • Capable of being on call for emergency transportation.
  • Reports critical incidents to DCF verbally within 12 hours, written within 24 hours
  • Implements Saint Francis Ministries policies and follows directives as required. Follows and adheres to all pertinent Saint Francis Ministries Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), rules, personnel policies and procedures; related accreditation and licensure standards; and federal, state and local rules, statutes, regulations, and all term of the contract between Saint Francis Ministries and DCF.
  • Reports unusual incidents through appropriate Risk Management, clinical and safety channels.
  • Ensures clients' rights are protected. Makes sure all clients have received their rights and maintains a signed copy in each resident file.
  • Is knowledgeable of and follows all safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Prefer Bachelor's degree in Human Services field.
  • First Aid/CPR
  • AAPS Certified or qualified to be a counselor-in-training
  • Certification in HIV/AIDS training
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must pass a physical examination, including drug screen and TB Skin Test.
  • Must pass an MVR, KBI and Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry Clearance check
  • FBI Fingerprint Check
  • Must have valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
  • Lifting requirements of 50 lbs.
  • Demonstrates competence and continues training in age-specific competencies for 11-year-olds through adult clients.
  • Prefer two years experience in alcohol and/or drug abuse field.
