Position Summary:

Provides direction for the program and classroom, and implements program curriculum. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focus on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Essential Functions:

* Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
* Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans.
* Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
* Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
* Conducts parent conferences, and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers.
* Maintains program site and equipment. Ensures the area is safe.
* Maintains required program records.
* Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
* Uses Daxko Engage technology to build relationships with members and children. Encourages and sells programs.
* Ensures all First Coast YMCA standards and best practices are implemented and followed.
* Applies YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations and child abuse prevention.
* Ensures the health and safety of all members/guests.
* Inspect physical space to ensure the safety, orderliness, sanitation and cleanliness of facilities.

Qualifications:

* Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law.
* CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
* Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
* Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
* Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
* Must pass a Level 2 Background Screening. Level 2 is a fingerprint check of state and federal criminal history information conducted through the Florida Department of law Enforcement (FDLE) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Physical Demands:

Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities.
